DIY: How to Get That Look

We’re brought you different looks on how to wear you hair on your wedding day here and here, but now its time to tell you how to get those looks! We’re got hot new styles for any texture and simple how-to steps on How to Get That Look.

Loose Curly Hair

  1. Leave it loose and down with a hairpin holding back one side as an accent.

Short Hair With Pin

  1. Part hair on the side and dry smooth and straight.
  2. Tease the underside of your hair in the back to give it more volume.
  3. Add a sparkly pin right above your ear, to hold back the hair.

Low Ponytail With Waves

  1. Curl the ends of your hair with a large-barrel curling iron, to create soft loose waves.
  2. With your hair parted down the middle, pull it all back into a tight, low ponytail.
  3. Wrap a section of hair around the elastic to hide it and secure with a bobby pin.

High Ponytail With Loop Bun

  1. Create a tight, high ponytail and secure with an elastic.
  2. Take a section of hair and wrap it around the elastic to hide it.
  3. Take the actual ponytail and loop it up to create a loose bun.
  4. Pin the bottom section to your head to finish.

Half-Up Look With Waves

  1. Curl your hair in pieces and then run your fingers through to create a looser, more relaxed look.
  2. Pull your hair into a half-up style and then loop the ends around into a bun-like shape and pin up.
  3. Let the rest of your hair fall naturally.

Half-Up With Tight Low Bun

  1. Start with a half-up style and secure with an elastic.
  2. Take a piece of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic to hide it.
  3. Secure the rest of the hair in a low ponytail.
  4. Split the hair in the low ponytail into two and twist around each other, then into a bun.
  5. Secure with bobby pins to hide any loose hair.

Curly Hair With Headband

  1. Dry bangs straight but leave the rest of your hair naturally curly.
  2. Add a white headband or ribbon to hold the hair back.

Curly Hair in Loose Bun

  1. Pull back curly hair into a messy bun, leaving wisps at the front.
  2. Secure a couple fabric flower pins onto the side for an easy-to-create natural hairstyle.

Bun With Intertwined Braid

  1. Start with a half-up style by twisting the pieces together toward the center of your head and secure those pieces with bobby pins.
  2. Braid a headband over the top part of your head from one ear to the other.
  3. Pull all of your hair into a ponytail and secure with an elastic, leaving a section of hair outside of the elastic. Braid that piece of hair, then leave it to the side.
  4. Twist pieces individually up through the elastic to create a layered bun.
  5. Finally, add the braided piece over the top of the bun to complete the look.

High Twist with Bangs

  1. Dry bangs straight. Pull hair into a low ponytail and begin twisting.
  2. Once the hair tightens, hold the ponytail above your head and continue to twist until the hair remains still.
  3. Hide the ends by tucking them in and secure with several bobby pins underneath and alongside the twist.

DIY: Wedding Make-Up

When it comes to wedding day make-up there are a few things to keep in mind. Your wedding day make-up needs to be a more glamorous version of you. You don’t want your make-up to be distracting, but you do want it to look great in photos. It needs to last through all the kissing, dancing, and eating.

Today we put together a few tips to keep in mind when doing your own wedding day make-up.

Moisturizer

You want to make sure your foundation goes on evenly so take it easy on the moisturizer the day of the wedding. Put enough moisturizer on your skin to hydrate it where its needed.

Lashes

If your skipping the fake lashes then make sure you use an eye lash curler. Curl your lashes when they are totally dry–not immediately after washing your face and applying moisturizer. If you don’t wait for them to dry then the curl won’t stick.

Eyes

For an extra-precise wedding-day look, do your eyes first, use a damp tissue to dust your under-eyes and cheeks clean, then follow with concealer and foundation.

Neck

A dramatic neckline will show in your photos. Make sure your neck and face are the same shade. You can either apply foundation on your neck when applying your make-up or you can dust bronzer on the areas that get less sun.

Products

You don’t have to buy all new products for your wedding day look. Chances are you already have the perfect color pallets in your make-up bag. One thing to keep in mind is not to use cream products the day of the wedding. After a while the cream products will soak in and you won’t be able to see your make-up. Use powder blush, shadow and either pencil or long-wear gel eyeliner for the more glamorous you!

Happy Earth Day!

In celebration of Earth Day I wanted to revisit some eco-friendly posts from the past year to help give you some ideas on how to make your wedding day greener. Although we only celebrate Earth Day once a year its easy to make Earth Day everyday when planning your wedding.

You might remember my post on 5 Ways to Make your wedding GREEN, its full of ideas (big and small) to help reduce your carbon footprint.

We can’t forget natural organic fabrics and our post on Eco-Friendly Wedding Gowns. You can also look into Pre-owned Wedding Gowns for another great alternative for your wedding dress.

From DIY: Potted Centerpieces to Recycled Bottle Centerpieces and DIY: Sugar Cookie Wedding Cakes we featured a ton of ideas to help make small GREENER choices for your wedding.

When talking about eco-friendly choices we also can’t leave out our blog posts on Rent the Runway! and Eco-Friendly Jewelry. Both are very fantastic ideas for bridesmaids dresses and recycled gold.

Making small greener choices can make a huge difference in our carbon footprint. The Earth will thank you. :)

Recycled Bottle Centerpieces

You might remember my post Crazy About Small Vases & Flowers! Well, we are back with some more inspiring ideas for your centerpieces. Recycled bottles can be a great DIY project or even a simple detail that will make your centerpieces one of a kind.

If your looking for a prettier way to incorperate drinks to your tables consider recycled wine bottles. You can fill them with water or a non-alcoholic drink for your guests to enjoy during the reception.

You can also use the recycled wine bottles as candle holders. Its a simple way to give your centerpieces a romantic feel.

An easy DIY project is getting old vegetable cans or vintage tins and decorating them with paint, ribbon, fabric or just leaving them alone and adding flowers. You can also use them for your table numbers.

Of course you can do the same thing with mason jars and antique jars, which has been a hot trend for a few years. Mismatching them is one of my favorite ways to decorate a table with flowers.

Happy Planning! :)
