How to Throw the Perfect Party: 6 Tips

Who says your party has to be mediocre?  There is such a thing as a perfect party. All it need is your wholehearted commitment and the ability to do some research on good party planning. Planning a party requires good organizational skills and the willingness to think outside the box. How well your party turns out will depend on how well you can assess your guests’ needs. So here are some of the most outstanding party planning tips to give your guests the perfect event:

  • Make Guests RSVP Early

The earlier you know how many people are attending, the easier it will be for you to plan the party just right. Therefore, send wedding invitations or those 60th birthday invitations early, and ask guests to RSVP before a deadline. Nothing can throw a party into chaos than guest lists that are always changing. For example, if you plan the party for 100 people and a dozen guests drop out the last minute, you will have a lot food waste on your hands. On the other hand, if more guests show up the last minute, you won’t be able to serve everyone well. It’s very important to know how many people are attending so you can arrange the catering and gifts accordingly.

  • Choose Unique but Sensible Themes

There’s nothing inherently wrong with choosing an outlandish theme for the party, but your guests could be put off. When you plan an event, you should cater to the sensibilities of all your guests, not just yours. Therefore keep themes interesting and very sensible. Don’t be ostentatious, be tasteful. Also, mind the budget. The theme decorations should not consume more than 30 percent of your budget for the party. The majority of the budget should be reserved for food and catering.

  • Invite the Neighbors

Even if you are not particularly friendly with your neighbours, invite them anyway to your party. First of all, doing so will keep them from filing noise complaints. Secondly, they would greatly appreciate a gesture like that. Also, if you invite a neighbour, you might be able to later ask him or her for favours, like temporarily keeping things in their house if there’s a space issue at yours.

  • Spend Time on the Playlist

It’s not a party without good music. So do mull over creating a great playlist. Choose a number of songs to play for several hours straight. Choose slow music at the start, because this will be when the guests arrive. Leave the loud, thumping dance tracks towards the end. The guests will want to dance after they have chit chatted and had some snacks. Make two or three different playlists just in case.

  • Limit Alcohol

If you want to throw a really good party, then don’t have an open bar. It only takes a single drunk guest to ruin the party for everyone. So, serve non-alcoholic beverages, or at least ones with the least amount of alcohol. No one needs booze to party and have fun. Make sure your event is safe and comfortable for everyone by limiting alcohol availability at your venue.

  • Have Something for Everyone to Do

Some guests like dancing, others don’t. If you want your party to be truly fun, offer a variety of activities for guests to enjoy. Have an area for chit chatting and another for playing cards for example. Anticipate what your guests will need in advance and plan accordingly.

Follow the above tips and you will be able to throw the perfect party that your guests will remember for a long time to come.
