Crazy About Chalkboard Signs

I’ve blogged about wedding signs before, but today I’m crazy about chalkboard signs. This is one decor that is simple and a great DIY project.

You can either buy chalkboards, search Etsy, or make them yourself. Either way we have ideas for every aspect of the wedding day!

Bridal Party Gifts

I’m always on the look-out for great gifts and today is no different. I’ve featured several bridal party gifts before from jewelry and robes to cuff links and belt buckles and today we have 6 ideas you will love.

Every groomsmen needs something to keep his money together. This money clip is On Sale at The Knot Wedding Shop. It’s the perfect gift to keep your groomsmen organized.

If you want to give your bridal party something fun think about flasks. I love this glitter one from AmericanBridal.com.

Although the guys won’t like the glitter you can find others flasks for them at American Bridal, Beau-coup, Wedding Channel Store, and The Knot Wedding Shop.

Every guy loves to grill, so why not get them something they can use every weekend during the summer.

You can find grill sets at AmericanBridal.com, Wedding Channel Store, and The Knot Wedding Shop.

I love totes and honestly couldn’t tell you how many I have. I love this tote from the Colin Cowie boutique on Beau-coup.

Of course, you can find totes anywhere, but make sure you personalize them so each of your bridesmaids have their own.

Get your bridesmaids matching flip flops with their names on them for the reception. Don’t forget to get a pair for yourself because we all know flip flops are the perfect shoe for the end of the night.

If your groomsmen love baseball then they will love these beer mugs from Beau-coup with their favorite team logo on them. You can find beer mugs anywhere, but the guys will love this one.

Book Review: The Cookiepedia

When I caught wind of an entire cookbook decided to cookies I knew I had to get my hands on it! The Cookiepedia by Stacy Adimando (which is available today) is an amazing cookbook decided to reinventing some of your classic cookie favorites!

As with ANY good book review, I knew I had to try out some of the recipes (I know… hard job isn’t it ;) ). I am officially out of my cookie coma and ready to share some of my favorites.

Before, I talk about the cookies themselves I have to tell you how much I love the book. The book  is so cute and has a vintage feel to it. Not only does it have great cookie photography, but the little notes and suggestions from Stacy are awesome. You also have an area after each recipe where you can write down your own notes and believe me you will use it because Stacy gives great advice on how to reinvent each cookie recipe in the book.

If your looking for an out of the box idea for your wedding a cookie dessert table is perfect. The book is sectioned out into 6 different parts from Buttery Cookies to Spicy and even Nutty and Seedy Cookies. You will be able to get your guests going back for thirds with with a cookie dessert table.

The first cookie I baked was Poppy Seed Squares dipped in Chocolate (pictured above). Every recipe has easy to follow directions and variations that can be added.

One recipe you will have to try is Everything-but-the-Kitchen-Sink Cookies. This sweet and salty cookie has an entire list of mix-ins that can be added. From Cool Ranch Doritos to Wasabi peas take a chance and be adventurous with this recipe… trust me you will LOVE them!

The classics like sugar cookies, animal cookies, gingerbread men also have creative ways to make them even tastier. You will find yourself going back to this book over and over again trying out different cookies.

Be careful… this book will give you a cookie coma and its SO worth it! :)

The Cookiepedia was published by Quirk Books and is available for purchase on Amazon. This book is a MUST have!

Happy Baking!

Lemonade Bar

I love the trend of lemonade bars! This trend is more suitable for a warm outdoor reception, but it also has so many fun possibilities. You can have different flavors of lemonade, infused waters, and even a non-alcoholic sangria option.

The different beverages will offer some very vibrant (and mouth-watering) pops of color to any party or reception. From mint lemonade to a watermelon your guests won’t even notice there isn’t any alcoholic beverages.

Pink Lemonade

Makes 3 quarts

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice, plus 4 lemons, thinly sliced crosswise, for garnish
  • 1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
  • 2 cups cranberry juice

Directions

  1. Bring granulated sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a medium pan over high heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.
  2. Add lemon juice, superfine sugar, cranberry juice, and 1 1/2 quarts water to a serving container. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 1 day.
  3. To serve, add ice cubes to fill and garnish with lemon slices.

DIY: Paper Lanterns

You might remember my post Crazy About Paper Lanterns and how they symbolize happiness. I also gave you a ton of ideas on how to incorporate lanterns into your wedding and if your crafty this project is right up your alley.

If your looking to save a few pennies and dress up your wedding paper lanterns are the perfect DIY project! They are very easy to make, however, they do take some time so make sure you get a head start on this project.

For these round paper lanterns (pictured above) you can read this great tutorial by Elise Blaha of enJOY it. Its all about color coordinating with the season, your wedding, or even a birthday party!

DIY Paper Lanterns

What You Need

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Stapler
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Glue, glitter, sequins, if desired to decorate your lantern

How to Make

  1. Use your ruler to measure and cut one inch off the short end of your paper. Set aside to use as the handle.
  2. Fold your paper in half lengthwise.
  3. Draw a line one inch from the end of the long edge of the paper opposite the folded edge. This will be the line where you stop cutting.
  4. Measure and mark lines one inch apart starting at the folded edge and moving towards the “stop cutting” line. (see photo)
  5. Cut on the marked lines up to the “stop cutting” line.
  6. Unfold the paper.
  7. Re-crease the paper in the opposite direction. This will hide any pencil marks.
  8. Match the long edges together on the lantern and use tape to hold it in place.
  9. Staple the handle to the top of the lantern. (see photo)
  10. Make as many lanterns as you wish and display them around your home.
  11. If you wish, add glue, glitter, sequins or other things to decorate your lanterns.

Happy Crafting! :)

**TIP: If your not looking to make your own lanterns make sure you check out Luna Bazaar!
