Giveaway: MissNowMrs.com

Getting married? Change your name online in 3 easy steps. MissNowMrs.com is a online name change service that makes changing your name after the wedding easy.

Did you know…

  1. Every state has its own set of laws regarding name-change after marriage, so be sure to check into your home state’s laws before your wedding.  You may need to sign your marriage certificate a particular way to ensure your married name is exactly how you want it to be listed on all of your state and U.S. government issued IDs and documents.
  2. Understand the name-change process before you get started.  You will need to file for a name change with the Social Security Office, State Driver’s License Office, State Department, IRS, United States Postal Office and Voter Registration Bureau.  Depending on your state of residence, there is a specific order in which to file your name-change forms.
  3. Today’s brides have more name-change options than ever.  After your wedding day you can take your spouse’s name, take both last names, hyphenate both last names, take your maiden name as your middle name (in most states) or take your maiden name as a second middle name (in most states).
  4. Skip the hassle!  Use the MissNowMrs.com online name-change service to transition to your new married name with ease.  Answer some questions, click print, and then mail the majority of your forms and notification letters in less than an hour!

DIY: Wedding Make-Up

When it comes to wedding day make-up there are a few things to keep in mind. Your wedding day make-up needs to be a more glamorous version of you. You don’t want your make-up to be distracting, but you do want it to look great in photos. It needs to last through all the kissing, dancing, and eating.

Today we put together a few tips to keep in mind when doing your own wedding day make-up.

Moisturizer

You want to make sure your foundation goes on evenly so take it easy on the moisturizer the day of the wedding. Put enough moisturizer on your skin to hydrate it where its needed.

Lashes

If your skipping the fake lashes then make sure you use an eye lash curler. Curl your lashes when they are totally dry–not immediately after washing your face and applying moisturizer. If you don’t wait for them to dry then the curl won’t stick.

Eyes

For an extra-precise wedding-day look, do your eyes first, use a damp tissue to dust your under-eyes and cheeks clean, then follow with concealer and foundation.

Neck

A dramatic neckline will show in your photos. Make sure your neck and face are the same shade. You can either apply foundation on your neck when applying your make-up or you can dust bronzer on the areas that get less sun.

Products

You don’t have to buy all new products for your wedding day look. Chances are you already have the perfect color pallets in your make-up bag. One thing to keep in mind is not to use cream products the day of the wedding. After a while the cream products will soak in and you won’t be able to see your make-up. Use powder blush, shadow and either pencil or long-wear gel eyeliner for the more glamorous you!

Happy Earth Day!

In celebration of Earth Day I wanted to revisit some eco-friendly posts from the past year to help give you some ideas on how to make your wedding day greener. Although we only celebrate Earth Day once a year its easy to make Earth Day everyday when planning your wedding.

You might remember my post on 5 Ways to Make your wedding GREEN, its full of ideas (big and small) to help reduce your carbon footprint.

We can’t forget natural organic fabrics and our post on Eco-Friendly Wedding Gowns. You can also look into Pre-owned Wedding Gowns for another great alternative for your wedding dress.

From DIY: Potted Centerpieces to Recycled Bottle Centerpieces and DIY: Sugar Cookie Wedding Cakes we featured a ton of ideas to help make small GREENER choices for your wedding.

When talking about eco-friendly choices we also can’t leave out our blog posts on Rent the Runway! and Eco-Friendly Jewelry. Both are very fantastic ideas for bridesmaids dresses and recycled gold.

Making small greener choices can make a huge difference in our carbon footprint. The Earth will thank you. :)

Recycled Bottle Centerpieces

You might remember my post Crazy About Small Vases & Flowers! Well, we are back with some more inspiring ideas for your centerpieces. Recycled bottles can be a great DIY project or even a simple detail that will make your centerpieces one of a kind.

If your looking for a prettier way to incorperate drinks to your tables consider recycled wine bottles. You can fill them with water or a non-alcoholic drink for your guests to enjoy during the reception.

You can also use the recycled wine bottles as candle holders. Its a simple way to give your centerpieces a romantic feel.

An easy DIY project is getting old vegetable cans or vintage tins and decorating them with paint, ribbon, fabric or just leaving them alone and adding flowers. You can also use them for your table numbers.

Of course you can do the same thing with mason jars and antique jars, which has been a hot trend for a few years. Mismatching them is one of my favorite ways to decorate a table with flowers.

Happy Planning! :)

Crazy About Brooches

I’m crazy about brooches and I love the many ways that you can incorporate them into your wedding. These beautiful pieces can make a big statement and they don’t have to be your “something borrowed” or “something old” anymore.

We’re used to seeing brooches transformed into beautiful bridal bouquets. This easy DIY project can be done using one piece as the inspiration and building around it or finding pieces from thrift stores and ebay that match your color palette. My favorite part about this trend is that you can keep it for a lifetime without the hassle of  trying to preserve fresh flowers.

Wanna make a statement from the very beginning? Adding matching brooches to your invitation suit will have your guest swooning from the very beginning.

Your something borrowed is usually a beautiful brooch passed down from generation to generation. What better way to incorporate it into your wedding day by wearing it on your wedding dress or even as a necklace.

If you are having a vintage style wedding why not have missed matched brooch escort cards!

You can make simple statements with brooches on your wedding guest book or DIY napkin holders. Your guests will love this small little detail.

I love, love, love the idea of a simple wedding cake dressed up with a vintage brooch. It gives the cake a distinct elegance.
