3 Questions To Ask Your Potential Wedding Planner

Planning your own wedding sounds fun, but it’s rarely a good idea. If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can happily plan your wedding and move along at your own pace. But, if you want to get married quickly, or you live a very busy life, planning a wedding can be a total nightmare.

This is why it’s helpful to consider enlisting a wedding planner to assist you with everything. They will listen to your wants and needs, then deal with all the actual planning for you. It’s highly beneficial, though there are a few questions you need to ask before hiring anyone:

How many weddings have you planned?

Your first question is all about the wedding planners’ experience. How many weddings have they planned in the past? If this is their first rodeo, you have no evidence that they will do a good job. It might seem a bit harsh to instantly cast aside someone with no experience, but you are planning the biggest day of your life here! Ideally, you want the planner to list off a whole host of previous weddings, providing examples of what they did. This fills you with confidence that they can handle your special day.

Do you have any special discounts?

This question opens the floor for them to explain more about their rates. They might have discounts for you, or they might not. Ideally, you’d like a wedding planner to offer some sort of discount for things like suppliers or vendors. Many of the best wedding planners work with the same catering companies, venue providers, and so on, all the time. In turn, they have a deal with these suppliers, allowing them to offer discounted prices for you. This is one of the benefits of hiring a wedding planner – they could help you save money. So, if you find planners that can offer discounts, it will be beneficial!

Can you plan destination weddings?

For those of you that want to get married in a different country, this is such an important question. Does the wedding planner extend their services to destination weddings? If not, you will need to go and find someone that offers destination wedding planning services, allowing you to create a magical experience abroad. Some planners do offer this service, but a lot will only really plan weddings within a particular country. Also, it could be worth asking about other types of weddings, like themed ones. If they’re capable of offering a diverse service, it will be better for you.

These are the three main questions you should ask your potential wedding planner. They will help you discover which planners are the best ones for your special day. Of course, there are other questions to ask, but a lot of your possible questions might be answered by the planner anyway. You also get a lot of information from their website before you contact them, so be sure to spend lots of time researching every potential planner.
