3 Fun and Memorable Ways to Spend Your Bachelorette Party

You know the traditional setup of a bachelorette party. It’s you and a handful of your besties, going from bar to bar and getting horribly drunk, maybe with a stripper performance thrown in there somewhere, dancing to club tracks, a bit of violent sobbing, questionably-shaped cakes and trinkets, and then an incredible hangover the next morning, complete with a collection of photos you can barely remember taking.

While the traditional party setup can work well for a lot of people, and while it doesn’t always have to end in completely blackout intoxication and later misery, it is pretty overdone. The whole point of a bachelorette party is, after all, that you’re celebrating the fact that you’re about to be married, and that you’re doing that celebrating in the company of some of your closest friends.

So, why just settle for a cardboard cutout template for every 18-20something’s Friday night out in the town centre?

When all is said and done, there are a bunch of ways that you can make your bachelorette party more interesting, memorable, and fun than it would otherwise have been. Here are a few ideas for different ways to spend yours.

Visit an escape room

Escape rooms are growing in popularity, and it’s not too hard to see why. They basically feed on that little childhood spark that still lives on in all of us, that years for adventure, excitement, mystery and intrigue, instead of the normal routine of the 9-5 grind.

Escape rooms involve you and your friends being locked into a room, and having to solve various puzzles and unravel various mysteries, in order to break out.

What actually makes this fun is that escape rooms are tailored to different themes, and many of the top escape room companies will offer various themed rooms that you can choose from. You’ll then generally have about an hour to escape from the room before time runs out, you fail, and the doors are opened.

Some of the themes that you might encounter include things like the classic 1920’s Murder Mystery manor house, an ancient Egyptian tomb, a wizard’s lair, or a maniac killer’s dungeon.

Sure, most of these themes are a bit grizzly and horror-oriented, but you wouldn’t really be trying to “escape” from some nice place, right?

In any event, an escape room can be a great part of your bachelorette party, and it’s likely to be more memorable than hitting the local clubs (even if you end up doing that later in the day, too).

Going on a special, themed cruise or yacht ride

If you want to get away from the preoccupations of everyday life, you could do a lot worse for yourself than getting away from land altogether. Doing your bachelorette party on a cruise ship — or at least, on a themed party yacht — can turn the entire experience into something far cooler and more exciting than it might otherwise be.

Sun, sand, and sea, are the ingredients in every good tropical island paradise fantasy, and you can live that fantasy on your own terms — at least for a while — while your best girls, some good music, good food, and fun games.

In fact, if you opt for a cruise, you don’t even need to worry about making it a “bachelorette party” cruise. You can simply turn up, enjoy the good food and entertainment provided on board with your friends for a few days, and then reach dry land again with some good memories to reflect on.

Book a cabin and go on a camping weekend

Some people are naturally into nature, and others prefer to hang around the city. It’s like the classic tale of the country mouse and the town mouse.

If you’re more of the “country mouse” type, booking a cabin in the woods for a bachelorette party weekend can be the first step in the kind of incredible experience that you’re not likely to ever forget as long as you live.

In fact, even if you, or some of your friends, aren’t necessarily all about the outdoor life, there are some great reasons for booking that cabin anyway — and keep in mind, it’s possible to find cabins which have the modern conveniences.

For one thing, this kind of setup often means that you and your friends get a large amount of open space to yourselves. You can act like fools, tell deep, personal stories, and just have a good time, without being looked at funny by thousands of strangers.

You’ll also have beautiful scenery at your disposal — and great (sober) swimming opportunities if you happen to be set up next to a lake.

There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset over the water, as you and your friends eat great food on a long table, next to a roaring bonfire.
