Ways to Incorporate Your Pets Into the Wedding

Woman and horse

Your wedding day is going to be one of the most memorable days of your life! There is so much excitement that comes with planning the big day, such as finding the perfect dress and the perfect wedding venue, and sending out invites. For us animal lovers and pet owners, the invitation list must include our pets too.

Dogs

The most popular pet that participates in weddings is a dog. Puppies can walk down the aisle with their owner-turned-brides, accompany the flower girls, or even act as the ring bearers while carrying the rings. However, you will need to make sure the wedding venue allows pets, and don’t forget to train your dog before the big day. Purchasing a remote dog training collar from PetSafe offers a safe and effective obedience training tool. If you are worried about your dog running off with the ring, keep it in your pocket. Let a bridesmaid walk the dog down the aisle to the alter and have someone else take them from there.

Horses

The movie Runaway Bride comes to mind when thinking of including animals at weddings. All girls who love that movie probably remember Julia Roberts running from one of her weddings on a horse. Deciding to include horses in your big day makes a beautiful theme. You can make a grand entrance by riding into the wedding on the horse. This would give the photographer some excellent opportunities to get some great pictures. The couple can also decide to ride off into the sunset on their horse as well. Many couples share one horse, and some ride side by side on their own. This is an excellent option for fall weddings. Imagine fall color flowers for the brides and bridesmaids, and the wedding ceremony taking place in front of a historic barn with the fallen leaves on the ground. It would make a great backdrop and a beautiful ceremony.

Cats

Cats are not going to be quite as easy going at the actual wedding, but if you decide to include them, one option is to dress your cat in a tux or dress and pull them down the aisle in a decorated wagon. However, you will probably need to hire someone to immediately take them back home, or to a safe place if you know your cat won’t stay in the wagon. Of course, cats also make for some very cute photos.

Wedding Photos

A picture says a thousand words. So, if you are considering including your pet in the wedding photos, one idea is to position them to hold miniature chalkboards asking the bride to marry their dad, or a sign with the wedding date on it. Hanging the chalkboard or sign from around their neck with a cute ribbon is a great idea. Many couples choose to just have their pet in the photos, but they aren’t necessarily looking for a theme. For those who have more rambunctious pets, it may be enough just having them in the photos. This may be the answer to incorporating them into the event and making memories, without having the extra stress of having them at the wedding.
