Guest Post: 5 Wedding Items You Don’t Want to Skimp On

Liz&Adam_00214

If you are in the midst of preparing and planning for a wedding, chances are you are right smack in the frenzy of deciding which item on your to-do list deserves more attention. Whether you have contracted a wedding planner, or are set to face the planning head-on, you must still come to grips with the fact that there are just tons of things waiting to be done. And this could go from finding the perfect photographer, to discovering folks who provide wedding catering services, or to deciding on the most engaging band for the reception.

Along with these decisions and tasks you have to face, there is also the reality of allocating your funds accordingly. With all the expenses on your list, there is no doubt that the spending aspect of wedding planning can be quite daunting. However, do keep in mind that you need not splurge on everything. There are a handful of things that can be done or executed in a rather simpler manner (and more often than not, this translates to smaller dents on your wallet,) and it would be great to discover ways to save on some items.

At the same time, there are also those parts of your special day that deserve a bigger chunk of your budget. While there are many ways to go unconventional or quirky, there are 5 things that you would really want to look at with a less frugal perspective.

Dress

If you aren’t a big shopper, you might always think of getting clothes that you can use often and for a long period of time. In that case, it will probably be difficult to reconcile spending a huge amount of money on a dress that will only be worn once in your life.

If you think about it though, the few hours that you will don your wedding gown will definitely be some of the most important in your entire life. Getting married is an experience you will only go through once – hopefully, that is – therefore the length of time during which you will be wearing the gown, as well as the amount you will be spending on it should not be correlated.

When choosing your dress, make sure to find the perfect one that will make you feel your best and most beautiful on your special day!

Photography & Videography

Once upon a time, documenting special occasions was almost limited to getting snapshots of every segment of an affair. The quality and look of the images were not as significant as the essence of the moments captured, and people were happy enough stuffing less-than-perfect images in an album.

Today, however, wedding photography and videography have taken documentation to a whole new level. In fact, documentation for events has also morphed into an art of storytelling, and the visual impact of every image can truly say a lot about the experience.

When looking for a photographer and a videographer, make sure you go through your candidates’ portfolios and reels. Look into their style, their work attitude, as well as their personalities. While pretty much anyone can point and shoot, only artists and professionals can capture the most important moments in your life with style and flair.

Venue

It would be great if we could just be complete and utter romantics and say that a wedding could be beautiful and perfect anyplace, for as long as the people you love are around. While that may be true to some extent, the location and the surroundings of your wedding could definitely dictate much of the atmosphere and experience.

When making rounds for possible venues, make sure you choose a place that is not only nice and pretty, but is safe, clean, and private as well. Make this a priority on your list, because finding a great venue could definitely save you the trouble of last minute locale-related troubles.

Entertainment

Anyone will agree that it is actually quite adorable to watch your nieces and nephews sing their favorite Disney songs in front of a crowd. It could also be really amusing to discover relatives with superb talents. Sadly, though, your guests may not have the same level of appreciation – and maybe not even tolerance – for playful entertainment.

If you want to make sure that your guests truly enjoy the night, don’t scrimp on great entertainment. Look up some local bands or performers who could pull off perfect covers of your favorite tunes, or perhaps a DJ who could spin a playlist of your collective best-loved songs.

Food

Ever heard the expression that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? Well, it isn’t entirely accurate. Why? Because it doesn’t just apply to men!

People love food, and if you are aiming for a memorable wedding, do your best to track down the perfect folks to provide catering services. Go around and schedule food-tasting sessions until you find the dishes that will have your guests talking about your reception for years!
