Guest Post: How to Avoid Boring Wedding Jewellery

Wedding bands are simple and unfussy. The circular shape symbolizes love without beginning or end, and wearing them declares you as married. However, they are a piece of jewellery that you wear while you remain married and for most, they hope that this is for the rest of their lives. Though the simple wedding band might be traditional and instantly recognizable, you also want your ring to be a reflection of you and your partner, and a standard wedding band might not do you justice.

Think Outside the Box (or Circle)

Wedding bands are often simple yet sophisticated pieces of jewellery, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Window shop, browse websites and do your research. Figure out what you like and what you don’t like, and don’t stick to the wedding jewellery section. Keep in mind that you’ll wear this piece of jewellery every day, so visualize what you do and whether it’s comfortable.

Remember that you don’t have to purchase ‘his and hers’ jewellery. Despite the fact that you’ll be getting married soon doesn’t mean that you’re the same person, so you will have different tastes in
jewellery. Pick something that catches your eye and reflects your personality.

Go Bespoke

If you have something in mind, then why not head to jewelers and have them create beautiful wedding jewellery for you. Having a bespoke wedding ring will mean more than just having a generic
band, as it will mean something more to you than something bought from a shop. It will also be a one of a kind piece of art, and therefore be more valuable to you.

In this same vein, if, for instance you have an heirloom, then you could either use it as your wedding jewellery in its original form or have it melted down and created into something new and modern.
Unless you absolutely love the original heirloom, then having it redesigned into something new can really make it extra special, incorporating your family old and new.

Men’s Wedding Jewellery

Many men don’t wear any jewellery until they wear a wedding ring. Some may prefer not to wear one at all, like Prince William. Men’s wedding jewellery has come a long way in recent years and
is no longer confined to the depths of a signet ring or a simple band, so if your man is put off by a perception of a lack of choice, then make sure he does his window shopping too!
