When you get engaged, you can start to think about what you would like at your wedding. First things first, you need to decide on a date for your big day. Try and think of a memorable date, or a time of the year you would like to get hitched. Most people tend to book a date with at least 18 months planning time. Once you have sorted the date, you need to sort these five essential things at least 12 months in advance of the big day!

Choose Bridesmaids and Ushers

Before you can go any further, you need to choose a wedding party as this can help you budget the cost of dresses and suits. There will be a big price difference from one bridesmaid dress to six! Sit down with your partner and discuss how many of each, and who you are going to have. If you have a lot of close family and friends, a larger number might be possible. Try and consider your friendships with them all, and whether or not you like them enough to be bridesmaid and usher status. Try and make the number of ushers and bridesmaids the same; otherwise it will look strange in the pictures. The sooner you sort out who’s going to be part of the wedding party, the easier it will be to tell people. If they are presuming they are, and they actually aren’t, it’s best to tell them sooner rather than later. And make sure you decide on a best man and maid of honour, so you can inform them of their duties. Try and not let any pressure or opinions make your mind up; it’s your big day after all!

Transportation

With at least 12 months notice, you need to find wedding transportation which will take you from A to B. You can research local companies which offer VIP Chauffeur Car Hire. You also need to decide if you require transport for bridesmaids. Wedding cars get booked up really quickly, so you need to make sure you sort it sooner rather than later.

Venue

You need to book the venue for the wedding at least 12 months in advance. You would be surprised, but there will be people booking it, at least, a couple of years before the big day. To ensure that the one you want is free, you should make finding a venue a priority. Research the area for potential venues that you would like to look at, and call and book an appointment. Ensure that you have an idea of how many guests you would like to come as this will affect you choosing a smaller or a larger venue. Also, you should check if there will be rooms available for your guests to stay. If you are having the ceremony at a separate place, you should definitely find that first before looking for a venue.
