A Wedding Planning Folder

The first thing you need is a wedding planning folder. This will be your bible throughout the planning process. You can start by making mood boards to put in this folder, with pages pulled out of wedding magazines. You should soon get an idea for the kind of theme you’d like your wedding to have.

A Budget

Make sure you set a maximum budget for the wedding so you don’t go overboard. It can be easy to overspend when it comes to your wedding day, but it’s only one day. Save some money for a fantastic honeymoon.

A Wedding Party

Discuss with your other half everybody who will be involved with your service. This usually consists of the page boys, flower girls, bridesmaids, and best men.

Start Writing Out a Guest List

The people you invite to your wedding will largely depend on your budget. The larger the budget, the more people you can invite. If you have a small budget, keep the guest list as reserved as possible.

Reserve a Date and a Venue

This should be done as early on as possible to make sure that you get the date and venue you want. Factor in travel too.

Book the Priest

Book the person who will perform your ceremony.

Find your Photographers, Bands, Florists, and Caterers

Research and find the best photographers, bands, florists, and caterers suited to you. See if they are available on your chosen date.

Throw an Engagement Party

This is optional, but many people enjoy it.

Find The Dress

Make sure you leave yourself time for fittings.

Find the Groom’s Attire

Leave this up to the groom, but make sure he does it in good time.

Find the Attire for the Wedding Party

This includes bridesmaid’s dresses, flower girl dresses, page boy suits, and so on.

Sort out the Rings

Have a look around and find your wedding rings ready for the day. Whiteflash, for example, is a good place to start.

Invitations

Buy or make your own invitations and send them out in good time. Send save the date cards first to make sure everybody reserves the date.

Plan Your Honeymoon

Whether you’re going to a cottage not too far away from where you live, or a country far away, make sure you leave plenty of time to plan your honeymoon.

Arrange Transport

Arrange as much transport as you need for the big day, whether that’s limos, taxis, town cars, or something else.

Order Your Cake

You’ll need to attend tastings before committing to a baker. Leave a good few months to order your cake.

Book Beauty Treatments

Make sure you have your hair and beauty treatments booked for the day.

The only thing that’s left for you to do is meet with everybody you’ve booked to make sure you’re on the same page. You may also want to arrange a hen party to enjoy your last days as a singleton. Have fun!
