Striking Floral Arches

Floral arches have been around for some time now but in 2014 more brides than ever are having them feature on their big day. Perfect for garden nuptials, floral arches provide a striking focal point to frame the bridal couple as they exchange their vows. Aside from their obvious use at a ceremony, floral arches can also be used as a lavish entrance to a wedding reception. Lush greenery accentuated with beautiful blooms can be tailored to suit a range of wedding themes by the choice of flower and colours you use. Bold and bright flowers can suit a modern or tropical wedding while beautiful blush hues and lovely whites are apt for a vintage themed wedding. Boho brides will especially love an intricate floral arch for a rustic styled wedding.

Captivating Floral Walls

Floral walls a la Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are also making waves in the 2014 wedding scene. Brides often look to celebrity weddings for inspiration and so following on from the new Mr and Mrs West’s much anticipated nuptials we’re expecting this will be a big trend. Floral walls make a grander statement than the floral arch, and can also be used at both the ceremony and reception. Floral walls were inspired by the vertical gardens that have been prominent in interior design over the last few years.  Completely covered in luxuriant flowers, floral walls add a romantic touch of drama to any wedding. The wall can be used as a back drop for your ceremony, set behind your cake table or as a lavish décor element next to your dance floor.

Delectable Cakes

Wedding cakes are also embracing a love for flowers this spring with oversized floral cascades topping many cakes.  Bright bold flowers work especially well against classic tiered white wedding cakes. This style can also be tailored to suit any budget. One tier wedding cakes with a single oversized flower in a bright pop of colour are perfect for recreating this style and will suit a modern wedding.

Blossoming Centrepieces

With a wide range of flowers now blossoming, a spring or summer wedding can be a great time to make flowers the main star of your table scape. For outdoor affairs, simple wooden planter boxes can be scattered throughout your reception and used for your centrepieces to create a beautiful and relaxed ambiance. You can even suspend planter boxes for a slightly more dramatic and eye catching effect. The beauty of a planter box is that unlike other centrepieces and wedding décor elements you might actually reuse this one. The perfect accompaniment to your planter boxes would be to provide your guests with cute succulent wedding favors.

Centrepieces Reach New Heights

For slightly more formal weddings, centre pieces are getting taller. Taller centre pieces of vases and candelabras add a dramatic effect to your wedding reception style. Especially prominent are clear crystal like vases and candle holders which offer complete grandeur. For modern weddings a line of centrepieces as opposed to one central feature is also becoming popular among brides. Vases and candles of varying sizes and styles are being combined to create striking table scapes that can cater to a range of wedding themes depending on the style of vase. These kinds of table scapes are complemented by beautiful table runners befitting the theme or placed on top of mirrors for ultra-chic and modern weddings.

Eye catching Colour Schemes

Always prominent in the spring, pastel tones are a popular option for brides this season. We’re seeing a lot of mint and blush shades especially. Not to be outdone we’re also seeing a lot of brides opting for brighter colors. Standing out from the crowd, coral and yellow shades are one of the most prominent color options emerging. While purple and blue continue to be a favourite among brides.  Aside from this gold is also having a major moment. Glitter gold is especially popping up in a lot of wedding styles. From bridesmaid dresses to sparkly table runners, glitter in both gold and silver is all the rage.  Courtesy of the great Gatsby trend which made its resurgence to the mainstream in 2013, vintage glamour is sticking around for another season. This includes solid gold accents such as cutlery, candle holders and vases featuring regularly in wedding décor.
