Guest Post: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: A Simple Guide to Minor Wedding Essentials

With a million and one things to organise before the big day, every little detail can seem overwhelming – even the relatively small jobs. Understandably, you want your wedding to be perfect and it can be, so long as you learn to prioritise. The following wedding tasks can be completed quickly and with very little effort so don’t let minor details sap all of your energy. We’ve drawn up some top tips for making the small duties as pain-free as possible.

Invitations

Not every couple has the budget to hire a renowned calligrapher to design their invitations so if you can’t spare the expense, don’t. With the caterer, florists, dressmakers and music already on board, there is a lot to oversee at your wedding so nobody would blame you for not wishing to throw another contractor into the mix.

You can still make your invitations look beautiful without the hired help at a fraction of the cost. All you’ll need is a printer and a spare afternoon. With a few craft supplies and a dash of imagination home-made wedding invitations can be beautiful – sparing time and money for the larger tasks at hand.

Favours

Wedding favours needn’t be extravagant and costly to appear elegant. Sometimes, providing your guests with something a little more creative and personal can be a better (and cheaper) option. Swap the expensive order of porcelain boxes for a set of ribbon-tied bags, tins or mini bottles. Bags filled with sweets are always a popular choice but a current trend that appears more personal and eco-friendly is bags of seeds and plants. If you’re stuck for ideas, simply let your wedding theme decide your favours i.e. a beach wedding could use pails filled with decorative pebbles or chocolates.

Wedding programs

Believe it or not, there is no actual need for wedding programs but if you intend to have some made for your ceremony, don’t spend hours fretting over the design and font. As with the invitations, these can be created simply and with no extra expense spared at home. Just ensure the font is legible and that it only contains what is necessary. For example, printing transcripts of poems and verses read aloud during the ceremony is fine, but don’t waste paper with long-winded messages or declarations.

It takes patience but once things start falling into place, you can finally start to relax and look forward to the big day. In the weeks before your wedding, why not let loose and enjoy the ultimate Stag and Hen Experience with your favourite bunch? If you are in the Bournemouth area, Stag and Hen boast a multitude of great activity packages to choose from, including everything from paintballing and poker to VIP club nights and cocktail-making sessions!
