Guest Post: 7 Tips to Landing the Most Romantic Honeymoon Destination

Sure, planning the wedding is a lot of fun, but what is even more fun is planning the honeymoon. It’s far less stressful, doesn’t require the input of tons of different people, and traditions don’t have to be adhered to. There are only two people that need to be made happy – you and your bride.

If you are about to take the plunge into holy matrimony, your bride may have taken the reins for planning the big day, but you can run the honeymoon planning show. You’ll want to make this trip an affair to truly remember. After all, it is one of the most important trips you will ever go on. Wondering how to plan the perfect honeymoon that will blow your new bride away, and even knock your own socks off? Here are some suggestions that will help you arrange the most romantic honeymoon on record.

Choose the Destination Wisely

Obviously, the first thing on your list is to select the destination. Don’t just go for one of the standard destinations just because it’s expected (unless, of course, that is truly what you and your bride are interested in). Instead, think outside the box and choose a location that truly speaks to you and your new wife.

If you love being surrounded by nature, a honeymoon in the jungles of Costa Rica may appeal to you. If you both adore winter sports, perhaps a honeymoon in the French Alps is your idea of a romantic destination. Choose a place that will be special and memorable for the two of you.

The Accommodations

Once you determine where it is that you want to go, it’s now time to choose where you want to stay. Do you enjoy lavish accommodations in a large, luxurious hotel, or is an isolated hut more your style?

It’s important to find out what your bride is envisioning for the honeymoon. Sure, surprises are fun, but you don’t want her showing up to a hut on the edge of the beach when she was planning for an all-inclusive resort.

What’s Included

Sometimes, it’s easiest to choose an all-inclusive location. That way you already know what you’re spending on everything before you get there, and can relax the rest of the trip. For others, they want to be able to go off and do their own thing, without feeling obligated to participate in resort activities.

What is there to do?

If you are hoping to enjoy some action and adventure on your honeymoon, check out the different activities that are available nearby before arriving. Things like hiking, water or snow sports, and small towns to explore all make for a fun-filled honeymoon. It’s also a wise idea to find out if there is anything offered where you’ll be staying, such as pool areas with water slides.

Relaxation

You, and even more so your bride, will need a little pampering after all of the stress of the wedding. Take this into account as you shop around for the honeymoon and keep your new wife in mind.

Is there a spa available? Can you enjoy a couple’s massage? Is there a spot where just the two of you can melt away your worries with no one else around? The relaxation factor of a honeymoon destination can make or break just how great it really is.

Book Ahead

This may not necessarily apply to how romantic your honeymoon is, but it will make a big difference in your experience. If you want to get the best room at the best resort and find the cheapest airline tickets possible, you need to book far in advance. Several months ahead of time will save you a great deal of money, and the amount of options you have will be much greater.

Dining

There is something so romantic about sharing a meal with the one that you love. Check to see what type of dining options are available to you at your honeymoon destination. Is there the possibility of having a romantic dinner for two in a secluded location? Is room service an option?
