When couples are making their wedding plans, they often forget about the children. Whether they are invited as flower girls, ushers, companion to their parents or part of the family, children represent a challenge in many weddings. In some cases, children can make up a large part of the guest list and you also wish to be happy during your wedding. Happy kids and happy parents create a happy wedding.

The Sitter
One important thing that you can do is hire a sitter for the children. One essential responsibility of the sitter is to provide entertainment to the children, especially in the ceremony or reception. You can workout an arrangement for the sitter to be at one place and where children can do between activities. In
the ‘children’s room’, you can provide an assortment of things like movies, crafts, video games and even pizza. Make sure that the place is near and it is convenient to the parents to visit.

Another major consideration is the sitter itself. You might know a neighborhood teen down the street who will agree doing it to make some extra money. Don’t skimp on this part and hire anyone. Know a person living nearby who loves children and has some great ideas to keep them amused for hours. You can even
look at hiring a sitting company that will send someone registered and bonded.

Music
Music is another thing to distract the kids from mischief. When you’re providing the music, include a few timely songs for the kids so they feel like they are part of the wedding. If you plan it well, you’ll find that the adults get swept up in the kid’s songs too. Talk to your band or DJ to get recommendations about classic children’s songs that will also inspire your adult guests.

Food
Food is another magnet for kids. Make your wedding special for the children by offering a fun children’s menu. Talk to your caterer to find out if they can offer such a thing and how much it will cost for additional snacks for the kids. Most caterers nowadays do have some type of children’s menu set up and you just pick some combination for the smaller generation. Be sure to check with the children’s mothers regarding allergy or other food restrictions.

Wedding Favors
Any kid loves party favors and a wedding party is no exception. You can create some special wedding favors for children that they will love. While the adults are opening their favors, the kids will also have something special to save as a reminder of your wedding. Include candies, jelly beans, lollipops, truffles and chocolates or crafts and story cards in little boxes for them. Expect the food to be eaten immediately while others slowly figuring out the crafts and cards!

Your wedding is a special day for you. But sharing it with the people you love (even the little ones) makes it more special and memorable. Make the kids feel that they are important and played a significant role in your big day. Doing these small things will be appreciated even though they might not remember it in the
future. The parents will also be happy and appreciate your consideration of their children. The special thoughts and efforts will not go unnoticed. The thought of making your wedding perfect for all guests including their children speaks volumes.
