Don’t freak out over the little things

A friend of mine is getting married later this year. She asked me what she can do to not freak out on her wedding day and have a brideszilla moment. After I finished giggling at her I realized this subject comes up a lot. With all the different reality shows out there showing the not so perfect part of weddings it really comes down to what are you going to do?

Its simple… don’t freak out over the little things! Enjoy your day and have fun. Things will happen, but if you brush it off, focus on the task at hand, and let go of the control, your wedding day will be perfect no matter what happens.

Here’s 7 things not to freak out over on your wedding day:

Leftover Favors

Not everyone is going to remember to pick up their wedding favor and you very well might have leftovers. If you don’t want leftover favors consider doing Personalized Drink Bottles or Practical Wedding Favors. You can also check out our Food Category for edible ideas! If your having a brunch the day after have someone gather all of the leftover favors and take them to the brunch the day after.

Bridal Party Drama

Not everyone is going to get along for one reason or another. Someone might be bitter about you getting engaged or upset about not being asked to do something important. Either way find someone to help keep you stress free and the drama at a minimum so you don’t have to worry about all the non-sense.

Bridesmaid, Groomsmen Hair & Make-Up

Yes it is your day, however, a happy bridal party makes for a less stressful day. Let your bridesmaid’s be themselves, that’s why you love them, right? When it comes down to it, no one is going to be checking out the bridesmaids in your photos and no one is going to notice if your groomsmen hasn’t shaved.

Messing Up Your Vows

Emotion can get the best of us. At my wedding I was so overwhelmed I walked down the aisle with my vows in hand and ended up repeating the same vows as my husband. It happens and its okay. Remember to take a deep breath and start over if you have too. When it comes down to it the ceremony will be memorable for all the right reasons.

Family Photos

Giving your wedding photographer a priority list of photos is always a great idea to make sure you get the family member combinations that are most important. But, don’t stress out if you miss a couple groupings. Cocktail hour gets people distracted with drinks and food. You can always do the family photos before the ceremony if you don’t mind seeing your groom before hand or get the big groupings during cocktail hour and move on. The reception can be a great place to get those other groups, just gather everyone up and give your photographer a heads up.

Catering

If your caterer promised one side dish and gave you another its not something to freak out about that night. Let everyone (including you) enjoy the dinner and talk to the caterer the next day. If your running behind on your time line make sure you have someone like a parent or wedding planner start communicating with the catering staff. Your caterer is going to want to start serving food at certain times so your wedding food tastes and looks its best. It is all about having the right communication to get the best results.

Weather

Prepare for everything. If it is supposed to rain make sure you have a cute umbrella. Embrace the weather and have fun regardless. And, make sure you check great photos in it! 🙂
