Real Nashville Wedding: Jennifer & Jon

John and I met at an ice rink. I saw a flyer about a women’s ice hockey league and was interested in playing. The first time I met up with the girls team was to volunteer with check-in for a ladies’ tournament. Jon was helping out with the team and we met when he introduced himself at the team sign-in table.

After that, I decided I definitely needed to try out hockey if I was going to be able to see Jon every week! I’m not a good player, and I don’t even play anymore, but I got something good out of it!

Describe the proposal.

We had been discussing marriage for a while. One day we went on a walk around my neighborhood and we were talking about maybe going to look at rings the next day. I said something like “I guess we could go look at rings tomorrow,” trying to be nonchalant.

And that’s when he said “or you can just wear this one.” I stared at him for a while before saying yes. Well, actually, I kept saying “you just did that!” since I was so surprised that he’d been able to keep buying a ring from me!

We used old Nashville concert posters as our inspiration for our invitations. Our good friend Catherine Hollo of Hollo Photographics designed them for us.

Our wedding flowers were designed by Jon’s cousin Ingrid. We used fresh fall colors, a loose and funky design and varied vases for a fun look. Ingrid was able to bring my vision to life and turn it into something amazing. We were so grateful that she donated her time and talent to make our day gorgeous!

The string lights were my favorite design element of the day! It was a fresh and modern color scheme. The Loveless Barn was the perfect location and the center that we designed everything else around made for the perfect design for our wedding!

Our wedding cake was a close replica of the one my {Jennifer’s} parents had at their vow renewal ceremony for their 25th anniversary and it came from the grocery store!

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?

We both like to remember, towards the end of the night, when we danced to “January Wedding” by the Avett Brothers with our friends who are also fans of the band. We were the only four people dancing since not many people know the song, and we four sang it out loud. The rest of the night, the dance floor was packed!

    To Lindsay,
It’s polished titanium and quite shiny. Not sure why it looks like that in the picture. we found it online.

    Lindsay,
It’s from Kodega.com. They were very easy to order from and the ring is awesome.
