A Honeymoon With An Extra Serving Of Romance

There’s no time in a person’s life when romance is more important than when they get married. Afterwards, you will make your own life together, and that can bring a different – though equally rewarding – set of priorities. The wedding and the honeymoon, however, is the time to lay the romance on thick.

After all, the wedding and its subsequent celebrations are all about you and your spouse-to-be together. If done well, it will be a day you look back on for days to come and smile fondly.

The honeymoon is an important part of the celebrations, not least because at the wedding itself, you have other people to consider. Of course, the two of you are still the most important part of it, but there’s no getting around the fact that you plan a wedding with others in mind too. When it comes to the honeymoon, however, it’s all about you as a couple, and no one else. The destination you choose should reflect you as a couple, and what you find captivating.

Therefore, it’s important not to just go to clichéd honeymoon spots, and instead pick a destination that really speaks to you – without missing a moment of romance.

Queensland, Australia

If you want total seclusion, you could rent a car and drive into the outback. Its austere beauty has a certain romance all of its own. However, what the outback lacks is the comfort you’ll find with some of the honeymoon packages Queensland has to offer. These breaks will provide you with peace and quiet, as well as all the alone time you could want. Better still, your break is set against some of the most idyllic rainforest scenery imaginable. Your time is all your own here, making it perfect for a honeymoon.

Bled, Slovenia

You could, if you wish, have the wedding itself here. Slovenia has a thriving destination wedding industry, and Bled is at the very peak of this. The Church on the Island in the middle of Lake Bled is a classic venue for loved-up couples. Ninety-nine steps lead up to the church, and tradition dictates that the groom should carry his bride all the way to the top in order to get married there. Now that’s romance.

However, this is the 21st century, so don’t feel that’s something you need to do. Instead, walk up together, then pause to take in the stunning views of this remarkable part of the world – a perfect romantic setting for the entire wedding, or just the honeymoon if you prefer to get married on home soil.

Masai Mara, Kenya

There are few things that can bond a couple on a more profound level than an appreciation for nature. A safari trip will bring those couples closer together than perhaps any other kind of honeymoon, and one spent in the Masai Mara can be among the most rewarding.

During the day, wild walks in the bush can combine with trips in a Jeep to see some of the most majestic animals known to man. In the evening, just watch the sun set over the plains and bask in the beauty of it all.

Of course, where you find romance may differ to the above three options, and if you can find somewhere that suits you better then you should go for it. Hopefully, though, the above will provide plenty of inspiration to get the ideas flowing!
