Top 8 Things for Brides to Bring on Their Honeymoon

Planning your wedding can be one of the most stressful yet exciting times in your life. Once the wedding is over, you and your new spouse will embark on your first journey as husband and wife – your honeymoon. A honeymoon is a wonderful time for newlyweds to relax and connect after all the time spent checking on little details.

While your packing list will differ based on where you are going (there is no need for a bathing suit at a ski resort), there are some items that every bride should bring regardless of destination. To reduce even more stress during this season, here are some top items every bride should bring.

  1. Photocopies of Important Documents. This is a practical tip for any traveler. Make sure to print along two copies of each document such as your passport, IDs, and credit cards. If you lose your purse or wallet, you will have the information needed to get replacements.
  2. eReader, not Physical Books. While reading on your honeymoon is fine and relaxing, physical books weigh a lot. Some airlines will charge for additional weight, so add those books onto an eReader.
  3. Special Outfit. At some point on your honeymoon, you will want to go out for a nice dinner. Bring a special outfit, such as a little black dress. You want it to be a dress that he will remember.
  4. Lingerie. This is a given; every bride has to bring at least one piece of lingerie to spice up your honeymoon. Ideally, you will pack a variety of lingerie if you are staying more than one or two nights at your destination. This is a guaranteed way to make your evenings more exciting.

As a special gift for your spouse, a boudoir photobook taken before the honeymoon will surprise him. While bringing along lingerie isn’t a necessity, it will make you feel beautiful, and your spouse will enjoy it as well.

  1. Birth Control. This goes along with number 4. Unless you want to start a family immediately, plan ahead for birth control. Some destinations won’t have drug stores or pharmacies close by to fulfill this need. Thinking ahead goes a long way when it comes to this.
  2. Camera. While you may have a smartphone that captures decent photos, a good camera will trump a smartphone. Preserving these memories is so important; unlike your wedding, you won’t have a photographer for your honeymoon.

Bring a camera with you and an additional SD card, batteries, and carrying case so you can take photos of all the special moments and adventures. While you are at it, bring an item such as a selfie-stick or XShot. This allows you to take photos as a couple at your favorite spots.

  1. Backpack or Large Tote. Depending on your destination, you will need a bag that you can take along for your essentials. If you are the adventurous kind, a backpack might be the best option; it’s the perfect bag to take while hiking or sightseeing. If you prefer to lounge on the beach all day and stroll through shops, a colorful tote will hold all you need.
  2. Sticky Bra or Strapless Bras. If you are going to a beach or warm location, chances are you will want to wear a strapless or low-backed dress. These options give you the option to do so without your bra sticking out. Sticky bras just stick on as separate cups and hook together to create cleave. They are usually reusable and opens more wardrobe options.

Your honeymoon will be a special and romantic regardless of what ends up in your suitcase. Enjoy this time to begin your life together anew before the normal stressors of life begin.
