Choosing a coffee machine for your wedding list

When it comes to compiling a wedding list, there are numerous things you can ask for in order to build an ideal home with your partner. While you are bound to want a few essential household items, a coffee machine will also be high up on the list.

But as opposed to a kettle or toaster, there are numerous different types and models available, which can make the decision making process a bit difficult. What’s more, everyone has their own coffee preferences, from espressos and Americanos to cappuccinos and lattes. So, with this in mind, here is a coffee machine buying guide.

Pump espresso machine – A pump espresso machine is perfect for any couple wanting to craft their own coffee, without having to ask your guests to spend a lot of money. Water is sent through a filter holder to produce a rich and strong espresso. However, a traditional milk frother is also included to make a cappuccino or latte.

Filter coffee machines – Perhaps the easiest coffee machine to use but also one of the most basic. Water flows through a paper or reusable filter to brew large quantities of flavoursome and aromatic black coffee. Ideal for a strong caffeine fix in the morning, a thermos pot or hotplate keeps the coffee warm too.

Pod coffee machines – These machines are incredibly straightforward to use as well, but boast much more choice and variety. This is because the disposable plastic pods come ready made with your favourite kind of coffee. Simply put the pod into the machine, wait for the water to heat up and flow through to the cup, then enjoy.

Bean to cup coffee machine – These machines might be quite expensive and sometimes a bit complicated, but they do make the most premium cup of coffee possible at the touch of a button. Fresh coffee beans are ground up, brewed by the hot water and delivered to your cup. What’s more, most machines come with milk frothers too.

Coffee machine verdict

So, for anyone wanting several cups of no-nonsense, strongly brewed coffee, go for a filter machine. However, if you enjoy different varieties of coffee but don’t want the hassle of making a cup every time, choose a pod. But those wanting to carefully craft their coffee should pick an espresso or bean to cup machine, with the difference between the two being price.

Good luck and happy shopping!
