Real Saint Paul Hotel Wedding: Terra & Drake

How did Drake propose? From the bride: Our families are very important to us, so before getting engaged, we wanted them to meet. Over Christmas break, they met in Milwaukee at my brother’s hockey game. I didn’t know this, but at that game, Drake asked to take my parents out to dinner the following week (he was going to ask them for permission to marry me). He said he was SUPER nervous, but of course, they gave him their blessing, and two days later, he proposed. It was a Friday night, and I thought I was heading back to my condo after the gym just for a nice dinner.

When I opened the door, there were candles everywhere, and a note from Drake was hanging in front of me on a red ribbon. It said “Timeline of Love” and told me to follow the ribbon to each “story” that would recap our journey of finding each other and falling in love. It promised that it would lead to a pretty awesome ending. I knew he was going to propose, but I didn’t know where he was, so I started to follow the ribbon. At each “stop,” Drake had written me a love letter that was dated as one of the key dates throughout the time that we dated (like first date, first kiss, first time at the cabin, etc.). He knows I love to reminisce about things, so this was the perfect way he could have proposed. I was totally shocked by how much he detailed in these letters. He even wrote about things that I never knew. I also came to realize that he had some our favorite songs playing as I was going to each stop. Finally, after about 10 minutes (felt like forever!), I came to the last letter. It was on my bedroom door and simply said, “January 4, 2013…?” When I opened the door, Drake was there, got down on one knee, and proposed. I couldn’t believe it! And to make it even better, my sister had helped him set up my computer, so we got the proposal on film. I still can’t believe how perfect everything was. He blew me away! I still give him a hard time though for doing it after I was at the gym because I was in sweaty yoga pants while he was in a nice suit! Haha 🙂
