Want glowing skin on your wedding day?

They say any good skin care routine starts a year in advance for maxim results. If its down to the wire and you only have a few months before the wedding it starts right now! Here’s how to get glowing skin for your wedding day:

Watermelon

Everyone’s body craves water and the easiest way to hydrate is to eat watermelon! Drinking water is great but let’s be honest it gets a little boring and snacking on watermelon, grapefruit, broccoli or lettuce will help get your body hydrated quickly!

Ditch that Washcloth

Did you know that washing your face with a washcloth isn’t good? The washcloth harbors bacteria so instead you should just use your hands to wash your face. But first, use a separate makeup remover to tackle waterproof mascara and long-wearing lipstick.

Deep Clean with a Mask

A mask isn’t meant to replace your daily face-washing routine; it’s only mean to enhance it. According to theknot.com. A mask helps remove oil from the pores something washing alone won’t do. If you have oily skin use a mask every other day and if you have dry skin, once or twice per month should do the trick.

Minimize your Pores

You can minimize the depth of your pores to make them seem smaller. Microdermabrasion, glycolic acid and other chemical peels will exfoliate layers of bad skin and minimize pore surface.

Get a Facial

Your wedding is the perfect excuse for some extra pampering. Want to really pamper yourself? Schedule monthly facials to really refresh your skin to get that perfect glow. Professional aestheticians will massage your skin, scalp and decolletage to stimulate blood circulation and keep your skin looking pink, not sallow. You can read about vitamin C serum reviews and learn more about how some natural products can help.

Use Salt Scrubs

Add a bath to your weekly routine and throw in bath salts with sodium bicarbonate. Sodium bicarbonate will break down dry patches and make your skin a sponge for moisture!

Use Moisturizer

If you have oily skin: You don’t want to add much more moisture, but you do want to hydrate. Look for moisturizer that has hyaluronic acid or ferulic acid in it, both of which help your skin maintain water. For dry skin: Stick with the hyaluronic acid or ferulic acid, but don’t worry about finding an oil-free formula. Your skin craves moisture. If you tend to break-out easily find a moisturizer that’s noncomedogenic. It should say so on the bottle. For sensitive skin: Find a fragrance-free product.

Safflower Oil

Fix flaky skin with safflower oil! You can raid the kitchen or you could look for moisturizers and scrubs that list safflower oil in the top 3 ingredients. It will lock in water and keep your skin hydrated.

Use Blotting Papers

If you’re on the go, blotting papers will help keep your face shine-free. If you need a more advanced grease solution, streamline your routine. Use a mild face wash (I love Cetaphil), skip the toner and add a lightweight oil-free moisturizer. Excessive face washing will kick oil production into overdrive.

Take Care of Those Pimples

If you’re like me you think popping pimples is the way to get rid of them. The best way to get rip of pimples is to dab benzoyl peroxide gel directly on the blemish. This will help dry it out (sometimes overnight).

Clean your Brushes

Every time you swipe on your blush with a dirty brush, you add a layer of acne-causing bacteria to your skin. Cleaning your brushes is easy: Just suds them with shampoo, rinse them and hang them to air-dry with the bristles facing down. It will make your makeup colors truer too.

Use Eye Cream

Dark under-eye circles are hereditary (in most cases). So the only way to reduce their appearance is with makeup. Start with an eye cream that has light diffusers, which reflect light to make the eye look brighter. Then, use concealer only on the dark spots. Look for one that matches your skin tone exactly, not one that’s a shade lighter– that can make your attempt to conceal even more noticeable. Remember to dab lightly to avoid tugging on delicate eye areas.

Blend Foundation

Whether you apply your foundation with a brush, a stick or a sponge, you should blend it in using your fingers. Put a dime-size dollop of moisturizer on your fingers, rub them together and start blending. The extra moisture will keep your foundation and skin from drying out and will make your complexion look soft and dewy.

Most of these suggestions can be helpful for guys too! Its the perfect Friday night activity for both of you to do together 😉
