Guest Post: 5 Dreamy Christmas Wedding Locations

Choosing the perfect location for you to spend your Christmas in can be incredibly difficult – but it becomes even more complicated when you’re attempting to select a location not only for Christmas, but also for your wedding. There are numerous venues that you could choose from, all with their unique characteristics and advantages – but in our eyes there are only five areas that are truly worthy of a Christmas wedding.

Hotel de Glace

#1: Hotel de Glace – Quebec, Canada

The Hotel de Glace, A.K.A the Ice Hotel, near Quebec City is an unrivalled location for the perfect winter wedding. This hotel was opened on New Year’s Day in 2001 and is the first and the only ice hotel in the whole of North America. As well as being redesigned and developed from a special ice mixture each year, making it a unique venue, the Hotel de Glace also lies on the slopes of the Laurentian Mountains – providing you with the perfect view and background for your photographs of your big day!

Honolulu

#2: Honolulu, Hawaii

Perfect weather accompanied by soft white sands and deep blue waters – who said Christmas had to be cold? The citizens of Honolulu in Hawaii really know how to celebrate their Christmas. With a dazzling display of lights in the city and fascinating parades put together by the community; it’s a truly perfect place to spend your Christmas and the scenery makes for an ideal wedding location too.

Lapland

#3: Lapland, Finland

Lapland is one of the largest regions within Finland and lies in the north of the country. Lapland in Finland is said to be the home of Santa Clause, but it’s also the home of some of the most breath taking views in the world. It’s due to these awesome views and the wintry nature of Finland that we believe Lapland would make the perfect venue for a Christmas wedding. I can’t imagine anything more romantic than riding in a sleigh to your wedding venue – can you?

#4: Budapest

Budapest is the capital, and coincidentally the largest city in Hungary, although it was originally a Celtic site. Budapest is famous for its incredible scenery and fascinating architecture – but even better still are the activities available during the winter months.

If the scenery wasn’t enough to encourage you to choose Budapest as the location of your wedding – their wide range of Christmas activities and sights might do. During the Christmas months the city of Budapest becomes imbued with life as the tourists begin to flood the streets and more market stalls pop up to accommodate for the temporary increase in the size of the population.

Some of the activities available for you to take part in whilst spending Christmas in Budapest include an ice rink in Budapest City Park, a Christmas market in Vorosmarty Square that begins on the 15th of November and concludes on the 1st January. There are also a number of thermal baths and hot springs that are available for public use – Budapest could make a wonderful wedding location as well as giving you an outstanding honeymoon.

Tanzania

#5: Tanzania

When you think about Christmas, you may think of crisp white snow and presents beneath a splendid green tree – Tanzania is likely to be one of the last locations to come to mind.  However the people of Tanzania celebrate their Christmas similarly to the way that we do in England, only the weather is much warmer and you could spend the day on safari if you wished to.

Although you might not wish to wear your wedding dress whilst on safari, it certainly would make your wedding a day to remember – how many other couples can say that they tied the knot next to an Elephant, Lion or even a flurry of flamingos?

There are thousands of other locations across the globe that you could consider for a Christmas wedding, but the aforementioned are our favourite five. Keep in mind that Christmas traditions vary depending upon the country that you are visiting and the culture within that country.
