Company: Fine Art Boudoir Photography

Location: Denver, CO

Tell us a little about what you do. I’m a natural light Denver boudoir photographer and I shoot on-location; outdoors, hotel rooms or a clients homes. I have traveled all over Colorado photographing beautiful women and have been lucky enough to photograph women in Seattle and Washington D.C. So I am available to travel all over the U.S. for boudoir sessions 😉

How long have you been in business? I’ve been shooting boudoir since 2009 and last year I was fortunate to finally become a full-time boudoir photographer.

What inspired you to start your business/studio? In 2009 we had a bride who wanted to do a boudoir session as a wedding gift. At that point we only photographed weddings and never thought about adding boudoir as one of our services. We did the session and shortly after we launch boudoir photography as a part of our business. It seems like it was a million years ago because of how far we’ve come and the client base we have built.

What is your favorite thing about your business/studio? I love what I do. Every week I get to connect with other women helping them feel beautiful. One of my favorite things about what I do is showing my clients a different side to their beauty and helping them see themselves in a different light.

Was there a defining moment when you knew you picked the right career path? Yes. I had a client who came to me at a point in her relationship when she needed to help find that “spark” again. She never thought she was the type to do boudoir (which most of my clients feel this way) and wanted to do something out of her comfort zone as an anniversary gift to her husband. That session changed my life for the good that’s when I knew I picked the right career path and I started taking more risks in my photography.

When you built your business what style would you say you built it around? (i.e. classic, modern, vintage) I would say my style is very modern, artful and beautiful.

When working with women how do you help bring the vision for the session to life? I talk in-depth with all of my clients prior to their session. I want to make sure they get photos that reflect who they really are. I tell all of my clients, “the session is for you, the book is for him”. I want my clients to take risks and I want every session to look different this is why I shoot on-location. Not every pose or style is going to compliment every women. As a boudoir photographer I need to be able to “play-up” their assets because in the end it is all about making a women feel and look beautiful.

Where do you go for inspiration? (i.e. blogs, magazines) I find my inspiration in magazines or fashion blogs. I love Maxim and GQ, their photographers make women look really sexy and beautiful. My favorite magazine to read is Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition. And of course I can’t forget the Victoria Secret catalogs because deep down in side every women wants to be a Victoria Secret model 🙂

Is there anything else you want people to know about you and your business/studio? Yes, I really could go on for days, LOL. I love what I do and I love photographing “real” women. It took me a really long time to build my business because I wanted to photograph women and not models. I think there is something special about photographing a women and making her look (and feel) sexy and beautiful. I help bring out that inner supermodel!
