Book Review: Little Old Lady Recipes

On Tuesday when I got a little gift in the mail I rushed right out to the grocery store and bought everything I needed to make a little comfort food. I’ve been waiting patiently for Little Old Lady Recipes to pop-up in the mailbox, and lets just say it didn’t disappoint!

Comfort food and kitchen table wisdom had me sold! “What a fantastic idea for a cookbook,” I thought. A simple book that gets back to basics with recipes from the women who taught us everything… our grandmothers, and great-grandmothers.

All of the recipes are really simple and anyone can make them, even those newbies out there ;). From Blueberry muffins, meat loaf, fried chicken, corn bread, and pumpkin pie, this book has so many of the classic recipes we all want to devour when we visit home.

The best part of this book, is the wisdom. I’ve never laughed out loud so much when reading a cookbook. I think my neighbors may just wonder what was going on in my kitchen.

“A grandmother isn’t the same thing as a restaurant. Shut up and eat the eggs.”

“Cheap food will taste expensive if you know what to do with it.”

“The best thing I make is reservations.”

Filled with wisdom we can all live by, this book will have you reminiscing on those days spent in the kitchen growing up. Meg Favreau’s book is genius and will have you rethinking what to make for dinner tonight.

The book is available on Amazon right now, so make sure that you CLICK ON OVER and pick-up Little Old Lady Recipes! Oh… and did I mention its so small and cute it can fit in a purse! 🙂

Thanks to my good friends over at Quirk Books for sending this over to review. You can check out more books published by Quirk by visiting their website.
