Real Colorado Wedding: Debbie & Matt

Describe the proposal. After graduating from our MBA/MSA program in the spring of 2009, Matt decided it was the perfect time to propose to me. On the morning of Saturday, May 30th at my home in Beavercreek, Ohio, Matt convinced me to come with him on a nice, early morning run (one of my least favored aerobic activities :). Matt showed some incredible savvy by convincing me to go with incentives such as a healthy breakfast upon our return and an afternoon nap. I never turn down good food or the promise of a long nap, so I was sold.

About five minutes into the run, we entered a path that led to a nearby park where my brother, Scott, had set up three stations of roses: first with the ring, second with a plane ticket itinerary that matched the one I had for my week of job training in Switzerland, and lastly tied to a romantic card. The fact that Scott guarded the ring for a second too long only made the moment more memorable. My mother, Dixie, had a delicious breakfast upon our return, although phone calls for the rest of the day unfortunately did not allow time for an afternoon nap as promised.

Debbie said her favorite element of the day were the pearls. “They added a special touch to many elements of the wedding, from the sides of the centerpiece cakes to the middle of the flower in the my hair.”

The bridesmaids’ flowers were a combination of lisianthus and roses in light and dark shades of purple with a few ivory roses to match the bridal bouquet. The bridal bouquet added orchids and mini calla lilies to the lisianthus and roses in shades ranging from white to champagne.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Debbie: Walking across the bridge holding my dad’s arm and seeing my future husband waiting to take my hand. Matt: The exchanging of vows – it was hard to hold it together.
