Real Wedding: Laura & John

From the photographer, From the Hip Photo: Much like the mountains are, Laura and John aspired for a wedding with clean and fresh themes deeply rooted in Colorado. While the ceremony took place in a traditional Catholic church, the couple was able to maintain a rustic and earthy feel incorporating blues and greens into the wardrobe of the wedding party, as well as featuring plant life and other botanical elements wherever they could, such as the logs that held up the place cards, tree stumps in place of cake stands, and succulents as the focal point of the table centerpieces.

Despite the pastoral aspects of the wedding, Laura and John actually met through a more technology-savvy route using Tinder! Neither of the two had to spend more than a couple weeks on the app before finding true love. A year and half later, around Christmas time, John proposed to an unwitting Laura with a book and a photo of the two of them. The photo had numbers written on it that corresponded to pages in the book, in which John had created a puzzle for his soon-to-be fiancé to solve. Just as Laura was putting together the word “marry,” John was already down on one knee with a ring in hand. Laura of course said yes, and the newly engaged couple celebrated in the best way possible by watching a holiday parade just outside their home and taking a picture with a nutcracker mascot!

John and Laura kept the good spirits up at their wedding, encouraging guests to dance and enjoy themselves. They even posted a sign at the reception that said, “You can find your seat here, but your place is on the dance floor!” The essence of their wedding can be summed up with Laura’s advice to other couples planning their own gathering when she says “Have fun!”
