10 Details Brides Forget

Last week at happy hour I found myself eavesdropping on a conversation. Normally, I wouldn’t be all up in the business, but this topic caught my attention. Two girlfriends were sitting down for drinks and one of them is getting married. She asked her friend if she had any advise for her.

Here’s what she said in a nutshell along with some of my advise! 😉

  1. Enjoy the day. Take it all in. The day will go by fast, it only happens once and make sure you have a good time.
  2. Always let family know what’s going on. Let them know when photos will be taken and what time they need to be there. There’s nothing worse than an upset family member on your wedding day.
  3. Make sure you give gifts to the wedding party. Let them know how much you appreciate them and give them something they can use or wear.
  4. Order food before the wedding for everyone. Make sure you feed yourself and the bridal party. Order it, that way you don’t have to worry about who is going to make it!
  5. Pack an emergency day-of kit. If you don’t have a planner this is essential. Bobby pins, a sewing kit, safety pins, clear nail polish, extra hose, bandages, aspirin, antacids, tissues, and anything else you think you might need. This kit will save you if something goes wrong.
  6. Have your mom or dad collect the gifts. For full disclosure this friend forgot to assign the gifts to someone and they forgot them. Luckily, her mom remembered and ended up going back to get them.
  7. Write a thank you speech. If you plan on saying a few words remember to write it down. You don’t want to get up there and forget some of the most important people that helped you plan your day.
  8. Bring extra cash. You never know if a problem will arise and you can also use the money to tip your vendors.
  9. Don’t forget a pretty hanger. Your photographer will take a photo of your dress and it will look a lot better with a cute hanger.
  10. Don’t forget to charge your phone! Not only should you hand your phone to someone else to answer the day of the wedding, but don’t forget to charge it and bring along the charger for the next day.
