Waxing Poetic Facebook Contest

Waxing Poetic is having a Waxing Poetic Facebook Contest. There is only a few days left to enter, but if you do enter, you will have your chance to win this combination necklace!

Here’s how it works:

We absolutely love when customers tell us about their favorite combination of Waxing Poetic jewelry explaining in detail what each charm means, who they represent, and how they’ve added to it over the years, etc.  It’s one of the best parts for us…the stories, the memory, the love.  We have a hunch that you too will also enjoy these stories of inspiration and style.  So to encourage sharing within our Waxing Poetic family, we’re asking you to tell us about your favorite combination and one lucky Waxing Poetic wearer will win a brand-new combination pictured above!

Details:

1.  Visit our Facebook page and click Like
2.  Upload a photo of your favorite combination of Waxing Poetic jewelry to our Facebook Wall.  Tag yourself in the photo and in the photo caption area tell us why you chose your unique collection of charms and how it tells a story that is meaningful to you.
3.  From the photos uploaded, we’ll randomly select a winner who will receive a new combination pictured above (Flat Cable Chain Necklace with a Square Insignia Charm & Pastimes Charm–both charms in your choice of style)!
4.  To be entered to win post your photos by noon on Friday, September 24th.  The winner will then be selected and announced on Facebook at 1 pm on Friday, September 24th.

Simple… right! Make sure you go to check out Waxing Poetic Facebook Contest and while your in Facebook, must sure you LIKE Lucy Dylan Weddings… we would surly appreciate it! ;)

Vendor Spotlight: Bellissima Jewelry Design

Bellissima Jewelry Design is one of our beloved sponsors. I’m not gonna lie I LOVE the designs and I’m so excited to share the inside scoop with you!

Name: Sarah Gregori
Location: Denver, Co
Company Name: Bellissima Jewelry Design

Tell us a little about what you do. I’m the owner and designer of my jewelry business- Bellissima Jewelry Design. All of my jewelry is handmade out of my home studio and is sold through my website and to boutiques throughout the country. I also design custom pieces and have designed many wedding collections for clients over the years.

How long have you been in business? about 5 years

What inspired you to start your business/studio? I’ve always been a creative person and beading for me was always a fun hobby on the side. I started taking it seriously after receiving a lot of great encouragement and positive feedback at a few craft shows I attended. I love all kinds of design and jewelry design for me soothed that need to design something from start to finish in a matter of an hour. I guess I’m drawn to that instant gratification but also love the idea of making small pieces of art for women to enjoy.

What is your favorite thing about your business/studio? I love the freedom it gives me to design beautiful jewelry as well as the happiness and excitement it gives customers!

Was there a defining moment when you knew you picked the right career path? One day when I was working a 9-5 job, it just hit me that jewelry designing is what I love and it makes me happy. Since that moment I’ve never looked back.

When you built your business what style would you say you built it around? (i.e. classic, modern, vintage) I love anything with vintage relevance but I’m also drawn to clean, modern lines so I think my jewelry has an eclectic mix of the two.

When working with people how do you help bring the vision for the event to life? When I’m designing jewelry for weddings, I ask tons of questions and ask about the details of the wedding to try and get the best feel for my bride’s vision and style. Once I have enough info to go forward, then I come up with several different sketches and materials to show the client and go from there!

Where do you go for inspiration? (i.e. blogs, magazines) So many places!! From furniture design to walking through a lovely boutique, it comes in so many different  forms. I think most of the inspiration is more of a feeling and color palette then once I sit down with designs and beads, it just takes off from there. I also love perusing beautiful design blogs like Design Sponge, This is Glamorous, and Mrs. Lilien to name a few.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you and your business/studio? I love designing jewelry for weddings and love the opportunity to design one-of-a- kind pieces for each person in the wedding party. I think it adds even more of a fun, individual element to each wedding!

Real Wedding: Katie & Brian

Katie and Brian were married by the lake at Katies’s parents second home in Crested Butte, Colorado. Surrounded by family and friends Brian’s uncle performed a beautiful ceremony. Their wedding day was everything they envisioned including a late night bonfire.

Katie and Brian choose to do a first look. She said it was the best decision they made. Not only were they able to take in the moment that they were about to get married, but they were also able to enjoy their day without being nervous.

Our wedding was during the Crested Butte Wildflower festival, so I had some of the blues and purples of the natural flowers in all of the arrangements. The bouquets all had a loose and carefree feeling to them.

My sister-in-law’s mother created our wedding invitations. She based the design off of the wildflowers of Crested Butte and our color theme of blues and purples. She also designed the programs for our wedding.

Brian’s grandfather is a woodcarver and made aspen vases and the aspen cake stand for us.

The outdoor living room was a nice touch that allowed people to relax and converse with old and new relatives, and as an extra touch we had cigars and a basket of shawls for when the sun when down.

Real Sundance Wedding: Brittany & Rex

Describe the proposal. We had our first kiss at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. We rarely get to spend a whole day with each other! So, we both cleared our schedules on July 14th, 2009! He wanted to take me on a hike to Secret Lake that evening around sunset.

Around 7:00 p.m. we headed up Little Cottonwood Canyon. When we reached the lake it was really crowded, but we found a rock right by the lake and laid our blanket out. We sat there for about an hour talking and listening to romantic songs on our iPhones. Around sunset we had the whole lake to ourselves. He got up and asked me, “babe, do you want to spend the rest of your life with me?”

Jokingly I said, “nah I don’t know, hehe.” He then got down on one knee and said “because I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” We both began crying and I started kissing and hugging him. After a minute he then asked, “so can I take that as a yes?” It was perfect, he proposed at the top of the mountain where we had our first kiss!

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

“Walking down the aisle and seeing Rex’s face for the first time… that moment felt so surreal.” – Brittany

“Seeing Brittany walking down the aisle, she looked absolutely stunning… the feeling is unexplainable.” – Rex

Brittany and Rex said they wanted their wedding to be simple, unique, and classic for their design. I think they pulled it off perfectly!

Our wedding cake was from Granite Bakery. It was a 3-tier red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. It was so delicious!!

Inspired by Aire Barcelona

Its the simplicity of the designs that I love. Today I’m inspired by Aire Barcelona and the color red. Fall is in the air and even though I’m not fully ready for fall I still love weddings that embrace fall colors.

Here’s to the fall T.V. season, Sunday football, the leaves changing, and all the great Holidays that fall brings us.

Now there are companies like Yoga for Weddings that can come to you either leading up to your wedding day or the day of! Their focus is all about getting you to breath and relax making sure you enjoy your day. Yoga for Weddings is based in New York, but they do have a yoga instructor for Colorado.

If yoga isn’t your thing look into a spa day. Massages are a great stress reliever. Because when it all comes down to it, its all about YOU getting pampered and relaxed! Also look into facials and body treatments, there’s nothing better than glowing skin the day of your wedding. If you haven’t been to a spa before get referrals from friends and family and start the process at least 4 to 6 weeks prior.

Make sure you have a consultation before hand because if you bruise easily you don’t want to have bruises on the day of your wedding.

Real Simple has a great article on 6 Wedding Stress Relievers. Make sure you check it out! Its practical advise for calming your nerves. The great thing about this article is it can relate to any big thing going on in your life. You can’t do it all, so make sure you lean on your friends and family for help. That’s what they are there for!
