Real Wedding: Dejane & Erik

When Christina from Wedding Concepts (one of our fabulous Dylan List members) sent over this wedding I instantly feel in love. This sheer urban elegance meets authentic rural charm was shot by the very talented Jean-Pierre Uys.

When Christina and her team design your wedding they have one thing in mind, “step off the beaten track and offer your guests an experience they haven’t seen in years. Keep it real by letting the authenticity of your venue shine through in food and decor that complement the setting.”

This is what Christina had to say about Dejane and Erik’s wedding:

Opting for a venue in the middle of pretty much nowhere, one knows you’re in the hot seat when it comes to pulling together the arrangements for your big day. Dejane and Erik, two soulful city slickers, envisioned a wedding that would be different to any other their guests had attended before. Our goal was to breathe life into the barren, dry landscape and old, partially dilapidated buildings by adding touches of modern glamour. The use of vibrant colour was paramount in adding exclamation to the atmosphere whilst natural wood, rusted iron and antique furniture elements paid homage to the significant culture and history of this magical setting. The ceremony – “no flowers; only candles please” – took place in an intimately lit, refurbished barn. The reception tent was a glowing beacon of colour against the backdrop of massive blue gums and date palms

If ever there was a farm style affair, this was it…menus printed on oversized linen napkins, starters served on individual wooden boards with snoek pate, fig preserve and biltong and curious farm animals joining in the festivities! A mood rich with genuine joy and fearless fun!

Real Wedding: Sneak Peak

Its coming, soon…

Here’s a little sneak peak of Dejane and Erik’s South African wedding. Yesterday we sent out a newsletter to people who have been featured, people we would like to feature, and people who just need to know what’s going on. We made a little bit of an announcement in the newsletter. We’ve been working on a little project here at Lucy Dylan Weddings and we’ve officially moved up the deadline.

We can’t wait to make the announcement to everyone very soon, but until then you can enjoy this little sneak peak while we finish up some work on the current project. You’ll be able to see the whole real wedding next week!

Have a great weekend! :)

Real Wedding: Tracy & Jeff

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is known as a beautiful vacation backdrop. When local couple Tracy and Jeff decided to get married they knew there was no better place than their own backyard (Jackson Hole) to celebrate their I do’s. Taylor Glenn Photography was along for the ride to document the entire day.

Tracy looked stunning in her Monique Lhuillier gown.

Talk about a party! What better way to celebrate then to end with fireworks.

Make sure you check out Taylor Glenn Photography’s website and blog for more work!

Vendor Spotlight: Cloud 9 Weddings & Paper

Company Name: cloud 9 Weddings & Papers (Dylan List member)

Name: Ann Marlin

Location: Denver, Colorado

Tell us a little about what you do.

cloud 9 Weddings & Papers is Denver’s premier wedding and stationary company.

How long have you been in business?

I joined Nancy Chase Weddings and Celebrations in 2002 and purchased the business in 2005.  At the same time I also purchased Pampered Papers and am so excited to announce cloud 9, the joining of my two favorite things; weddings and fine papers.

What inspired you to start your business/studio?

I have always had a passion for planning events and was fortunate enough to join the Nancy Chase Weddings and Celebrations team in 2002.  Working with Nancy and getting to know the industry only deepened my desire to make this a lifelong career and buy the business.

What is your favorite thing about your business/studio?

Getting to know a  couple and their history, family, traditions and translating their wedding dreams into reality and of course coupling that with stunning save the dates, invitations and accessories!

Was there a defining moment when you knew you picked the right career path?

I am lucky to be able to say that I look forward to going into work taking on the tasks and challenges ahead…I am excited about my job every day.  I work with wonderful brides, families, vendors and fabulous paper on a daily basis.

When you built your business what style would you say you built it around? (i.e. classic, modern, vintage)

I would say that we have a more classic style.  We definitely pull in vintage and modern elements throughout the details but overall we have a very elegant, romantic and classical feel to the business that bring in the couples relationship for a truly unique experience.

When working with people how do you help bring the vision for the event to life?

We take great pride in keeping each wedding and event unique.  We pull as much information from the bride and groom as possible – their favorite things, their style, their likes/dislikes and especially their vision for the day.  No two couples are alike and no two weddings should be alike.  We start with the bride and grooms priorities for the day, and focus on the details from there.

Where do you go for inspiration? (i.e. blogs, magazines)

We read all of the industry magazines including Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormond, Real Simple Weddings and love to search blogs and wedding related websites.  Décor magazines and invitation/paper trends serve as great inspiration as well.

Real Engagement: Nate & Nancy

What better way to celebrate your engagement then to incorporate spring skiing? Nate and Nancy took to the slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado the very spot where Nate proposed to her. They had a day in the sun full of love, laughter, and skiing.

The amazing Katie Thurmes of Jenna Walker Photographers documented  their engagement session beautifully. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for their wedding in January!
