Finding the Perfect Gown: Revisited

One of the things I love the most about blogging is the openness of our readers. They email me when they want to see something or when they have a question. One request we get all the time is questions about wedding gowns. Readers want to know what they should keep in mind when looking for wedding gowns and if I have suggestions on eco-friendly dresses.

Next week I will blog some great eco-friendly designers that are available in the Rocky Mountains. Until then, lets revisit our guest blog post from Blue Bridal Couture. Back in January I asked the wonderful ladies (who are now one of our sponsors) to guest blog about Have you bought your gown yet? Things to keep in mind.

Make sure you check out their guest blog post.

Real Colorado Engagement: Jacy & Todd

I’ll be honest. I smiled the entire time I looked at this submission. Not only did it scream ” classic Colorado,” but Jacy and Todd look so in love. I love how Autumn Burke Photography shot this session, its like she wasn’t even there.

Jacy and Todd’s laugh and smiles are so contagious I had to share this with you.

To check out more of Autumn Burke’s work you can visit her website and blog!

Inspired by Modern Trousseau

Spring is in the air. The grass is green and wedding season is in full swing. I’ve said this all before, but I can’t help but love summer and weddings. Today I’m inspired by Modern Trousseau and the color yellow.

Yellow just makes me happy and brightens up any wedding.

Happy Tuesday! :)

Thinking Outside the Box: Wedding Cake

Its no secret I’m a HUGE foodie. I’m thinking I may need to add another category on the blog just for food. When it comes to your wedding day, do you have to be traditional? What if you don’t like wedding cake? Today is all about thinking outside the box with wedding cake alternatives.

Cheese is one of my guilty pleasures. If I could eat cheese all day… I would. It doesn’t matter what kind it is I will try anything (especially if its paired with a brilliant glass of wine :) ).

I fell head over heels in love with this wedding cake alternative by Dish Food & Social. Madri with the Aleit Group in South Africa was kind enough to send it over for me to share. Thanks to Joe Photgrapher for the amazing job capturing a stunning cake alternative.

Here’s another great cheese alternative of Crottin cakes (goat cheese) from Martha Stewart Weddings. I love how they accented it with lavender, rosemary, and oregano it’s such a romantic feel.

Wedding alternatives don’t stop there. If your a hostess cupcake fan this wedding cake is perfect for you!

You can also think outside of the box with donuts or chocolate truffles. I love how Martha Stewart made these look so yummy!

Whatever your style is make sure you incorporate it into your wedding. Weddings are all about eating why not give your guests something to talk about!

TGIF!

Real South African Wedding: Kundai & Patrick

I’m officially in love… with South African weddings. Although this blog was started with a focus on the Rocky Mountain region, not only am I enjoying, but I’m love featuring weddings from South Africa. I love the elegant, stunning, and rich feel from the weddings. They are all unique in their own way. I have also heard about how beautiful South Africa is, now I’m ready to jet set from the beautiful Rocky Mountains to the stunning backdrop of South Africa.

I’m very lucky to have a global following and I will continue to feature weddings from the Rocky Mountain region, but I will start to feature more real weddings from my new favorite area South Africa.

This real wedding comes via our AMAZING Dylan List member, Wedding Concepts. With the beautiful backdrop of the Stellenbosch Winelands, Kundai and Patrick had a wedding fit for a queen.

The joining of two African cultures – Congolese and Zimbabwean – all set in the heart of the Cape Winelands, spells the beginning of an incomparable union and a lavish extravaganza. Kundai’s wedding was always meant to be fit for a queen! Classic undertones were kept throughout and no detail was overlooked.

The selection of the best chairs available, top of the range tableware and linen set the grand tone of the evening. A number of oversized crystal chandeliers were suspended from the eves – this not only balanced the proportions of the room, but added the WOW factor. To achieve variety food was served with sleek white sideboards specially constructed for the occasion. The stylish counters – each unit shared between two guest tables – were groaning under the weight of butterflied Spanish prawns; barbecued free-range Namibian sirloin, North African lamb cutlets; lemon and thyme roasted chicken and more!

After dinner, Kundai by then in her party wedding dress, and guests were treated to a fire show set to exceptional music and flanked by the vineyards! As the party got underway to the sounds of Rene the Frenchmen, oversized silver coolers – filled with dry ice and mini magnum ice creams – were circulated to cool the steamy atmosphere of the vibrantly filled dance floor!
